Visits
It is important that you and your child visit the center and the prospective classroom and classroom teachers. Parents are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the Director for a tour of the center as well as to discuss potential openings, program options and desired start date. Parents are always welcomed and encouraged to revisit the center as much as they would like during the process of determining the appropriate placement for their child.
Application for Enrollment
Applications for enrollment will be handed out after the initial visit or by individual request. Completing this application does not ensure that the child is enrolled at the center but places your child on the Wait List for the upcoming semester. This puts your child on the Wait List for the upcoming trimester. The Wait List status will be explained to parents during the initial meeting with the Director.
Application Fee
An application fee of $20 must be submitted with the completed Application for Enrollment in order for your child to be placed on the Wait List.
Enrollment Packet
An Enrollment Packet must be completed prior to the child’s first day. Included with the enrollment packet must be an up to date Certificate of Immunizations and Physical, completed by the child’s pediatrician. We also require a recent photo of your child, parents/guardians and any other persons listed on the Child Release Form located in Enrollment Packet. Priority for enrollment goes to siblings of children already enrolled and family members of staff.
Wait List
In the event that there is no spot available for the desired trimester your child’s name will be placed on the Wait List in the order that we receive the completed paperwork. Children will remain on the wait list until they are enrolled at the center, no longer want the spot or are too old for the program. Parents of children on the wait list are welcome to check on the wait list status at any time. Parents will be periodically contacted with updates on the status of the Wait List.
Program
The Crayon Academy serves families with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years of age. Parents have the choice of sending their child 2 (Tuesday, Thursday), 3 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) or 5 (Monday-Friday) days. We offer full days, half day mornings or half day afternoons. A list of the different program options and tuition rates can be found on the attached Tuition Rate Sheet.
Hours of Operation
The Crayon Academy opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. We offer many different programs to fit the needs of parents/guardians.
Vacations
A list of the center closings is attached. There will be no refund for days that the child does not attend. This includes vacations and sick days.
Trimesters
The Crayon Academy runs on trimesters; Fall (September-January), Spring (February-mid-June), Summer (mid-June-August). Upon enrolling your child you are agreeing to send your child for the semester and are responsible for payment through the entire trimester. The reason for this is that you are paying for a space in the center that we cannot give to anyone else for the duration of the semester. The Enrollment Agreement clearly outlines details of the tuition payment for the trimester and can be found in the Enrollment Packet. By signing the agreement, you are stating that you agree to these terms and conditions and that you will continue to pay throughout the semester even if your child does not attend.
Tuition
Tuition payments can be made by check, made payable to The Crayon Academy. Tuition can be paid for in weekly installments or in-full prior to a child’s first day. For parents who choose to make weekly payments, tuition payment is due on Fridays at pick up for the following week.
Insufficient Funds
When a check is issued with insufficient funds, a penalty of $15.00 from The Crayon Academy will be put in place and sufficient payment will be expected immediately. Another check may be given, but a second check issued with insufficient funds will be required payment in cash or money order only.
Deposit
After the Director confirms that there is an opening for your child a 1st week's tuition is due, in order to secure his/her enrollment.
Late Payment Fee
A fee of $15.00 will be charged to any parent who fails to make a tuition payment on time. Any bills that a parent receives must be paid in full by the last day of the month that the statement was issued. Failure to do so will result in a second late fee of $15.00.
Late Pick-up Fee
If a parent is unable to pick their child up at their scheduled pick up time and is unable to make alternate arrangements, the school must be notified and given an updated time of when the child will be picked up. If scheduled pick up time is during the normal school hours (7:30-5:00), a fee of $5.00 will be charged for up to a full hour. Anyone who picks up their child after the center closing of 5:00 will be charged $5.00 for the first ten minutes and $1.00 for every minute thereafter. Parents may be given a Late Slip filled out by the teacher that the parent must sign and return. A bill will be sent to the parents and it is expected to be paid in full by the last day of the month that the bill was issued to escape a further penalty.
Extended Hours
Parents can arrange ahead of time to have their child stay for an extra hour or be dropped off an hour early. There is an Extended Hour Form located in the office and must be filled out by the parent and approved by the Director prior to the requested day. Please see the Director for the extended day options.
Extra Day
In the event that a parent needs to send their child on a day that is not scheduled, we will make every effort to accommodate. Staff to child ratios will be taken into account in determining whether we are able to accommodate an extra child. The following rates will be charged on extra days:
| Preschool | Toddler | Infant |
| Till 11:30 A.M. | $15.00 | $20.00 | $30.00 |
| Till 1:00 P.M. | $20.00 | $25.00 | $30.00 |
| Till 5:00 P.M. | $25.00 | $30.00 | $30.00 |
The request for the extra day must be approved by the Director. She will notify the parent as soon as possible so that the parent may prepare in the case that we are not able to accommodate their child.
